Identity Redesign & Web Application

The Northwest Arctic Region School Board approached us to help them both revitalize their brand and develop a new Web-based application-intake system for prospective teachers. Previously, the site was very non-descriptive and did a poor job showcasing the benefits of living in and teaching in the region. The goal was to develop an inspiring site as well as a system for submitting employment applications and an approval workflow.

CHALLENGE + SOLUTION
The Challenge: Move to Alaska and teach. That was our challenge. Help draw people to move out to the rural Alaskan Countryside and teach in a school system that compares in size to about four states. With our background in resort-design, we set out to approach selling Alaska the way we knew how.

We spent a great deal of time really understanding the physical landscape of the different regions. We knew that in order to promote the region, we have to paint a picture for people as to how the region is both organized as well as how it looks. With all the resource materials and detailed documentation that the district archives, we had to develop a system that would make it easy for poeple (parents and faculty) to find relevant materials. Our solution emphasized simplicity and clear information organization with nothing overly designed, simple forms, and presentation formats, but all within a very warm and nature-inspired look & feel.
