TeraSystems
Corporate Identity & Web site
One of the largest chip manufacturers in the US, Terasystems was about to launch new circuit-design software; and with it, needed a more modern, sophisticated identity to help re-position the company. We worked to develop that new look & feel and extend it to all of their marketing collateral, Web site and advertising. Along the way, we completely reorganized the site and helped develop a more prominent way to feature their products.

The Challenge:
We really wanted the visual design for the identity to embody something about the nature of chip manufacturing. The name was so clearly about surface structure that we knew we had to talk about that aspect. We really struggled to do something more sophisticated than digital per se.
Our design solution won the hearts of the company almost immediately and unanimously. The transparency effects of the overlapping elements evoked aspects of the silicon manufacturing process yet still evoked a modern feeling and one that clearly differentiated from their comopetition. Of course people have asked us about the similarity to some of the effects that SONY has developed for the Playstation games and the similarity. All we can say is we thought of it first.
