YogaStudio
Branding, Retail Signage, Collateral & Web Site

Launching a new chain of upscale Yoga Studios, the previous founder of Gymboree hired Zaudhaus to craft a complete brand system to align with their new retail store design. We worked to investigate and define the visual style that could communicate the studio philosophy. We then worked very closely to identify the most appropriate pieces to develop for guests’ use. The result is a totally consistent system that maintains the simplicity and care that the studio promotes.

CHALLENGE + SOLUTION
The Challenge: The vision that Joan Barnes had for the studio - was an oasis. Not just a place to practice Yoga - the conventional box with wood floors, but rather something closer to a resort or hotel lobby, surrounded by the sounds, textures, and sights that could get people in the mood for Yoga. We worked with Arcanum Architecture, an SF-based boutique architecture firm to develop the interior vision. This gave us some incentive from the physical experience side. We worked well with Arcanum - taking in their ideas and sharing ours.

We focused our investigation of concepts into grounded ideas that came from the history of the studio and the natural location. We wanted to emphasize the simplicity of the idea and Yoga, itself. We didn't want to just show Yoga poses and people stretching. It was important to the client that Yoga come across as a lifestyle and more than just the physical practice. Our solution blended simple elements of nature from the local environment, along with simple, pure typography. The designed emphasized both subtle beauty and ease of access - i.e. great and clear information for the consumer.
“We originally wanted a female team to work with - who really understood Yoga. Zaudhaus surprised us. They really listened to us. The eye-catching, designs kept people coming back - which increased sales.”
- Joan Barnes, CEO, YogaStudio
