We worked exclusively with the Mode Japan offices to develop a concept around a mobile app that they felt consumers in Japan would value. In particular, we chose the food-industry (restaurants) and noticed that while consumers were very "dish-centric" when it came to choosing a restaurant in Japan. This is why there is such a thriving business around showcasing plastic food outside Japanese restaurants - the decision to eat is based on the dish.



Our solution surrounded a mobile app idea that could not only feature restaurants but would showcase dishes. In addition to signature dishes, we organized a taxonomy around types of food not just types of restaurants. We also focused on featuring favorite dishes, most popular, and other metrics around trends in types of food.
