When Roost decided to adjust their strategy and speak to a broader audience, we were asked to help strategize on functionality as well as completely overhaul the interface design.
We worked directly with product management to develop new features and then expand on the current brand, refining it and then launching a new more “tool-like” interface that could support all the new features including more robust and useful analytics as well as innovative social functionality that could “amplify” a given user’s posts.
Our approach with the interface design was first to build upon the green coloring that was familiar to the existing users of the product already. We refined the overall color palette and even simplified the identity. The interface needed to appeal to a broader audience rather than only real estate professionals – so we developed a contrasting set of muted colors for some of the more functional elements of the interface to be off-set by the bright green. That approach worked well and was well-received by existing and new customers. It also allows us to develop a nice balance of functional items, paired with notifications and analytics elements.
The Web site design came last, and was built upon the same strategy. We simplified the previous design by creating a more standard layout, but limiting the length and challenging the marketing group to write more specific and brief copy.
