Challenge

Songbird defined the next evolution in digital music by launching an open-source player platform that allowed people to build features and plug-ins to extend the player’s features. The player could bring together multiple sources of content from around the Web in context while the user was playing a song. The overall UI was very clunky and inconsistent. The brand was faceless and dry.

 

Solution

We optimized the overall UX of the product - both on Desktop and Mobile, then we crafted a new visual interface that stood out from the existing players. From there we went on to define a new identity that built on the early history of the product - which helped rally a developer community to develop even more plug-ins for the platform.
